Raising funds for type one diabetes research.
We first began our fundraising campaign in the spring of 2018 when we participated in the JDRF Miami One Walk. $3,300 dollars were raised for this event through the efforts of our six original members who laid the foundation for what was to come.
Throughout the rest of 2018 we collected funds for our initiative through the beach volleyball tournament during the summer through which we raised $1000. In the spring of 2019, we hosted a soccer tournament through which we raised $1200 for our cause.
Knowing that we wanted to leave an impact at the 2019 JDRF Miami One Walk, we doubled our fundraising amount by raising $6,675 to fund the JDRF’s research and advocacy initiatives.
However, for the JDRF Miami One Walk in 2020, we have even larger aspirations. We plan on raising a minimum of $20,000 through our much larger community and increased presence in the South Florida Chapter.
We plan on partnering with other local diabetics to maximize our fundraising effort and impact in the community. We will also be working with local businesses to get them involved in the cause.
Aside from the JDRF Miami One Walk in 2020, we plan on hosting our own large event with sponsors and our entire community of Project LastDrop members to raise at least $10,000 to go towards our One Walk Fund this spring.
